Where the War Was Won: Southern Campaign
Lead With Character alumni trips are advanced courses for men and boys who have completed at least one Gettysburg trip. These trips provide an opportunity to go broader and deeper into the history of the war, the lives of the faithful men we study, and the Biblical principles of leadership. Alumni trips have a special camaraderie and fellowship founded on the shared landmark experience of each man's first Lead With Character trip.
On this trip, you'll join us in looking into the founding of America and the costs and sacrifices it took to separate from the most powerful empire in the world at the time. We will explore the causes of the war and consider whether it was justifiable from a Christian perspective. We will examine the remarkable contribution of Christian pastors and laymen to the war effort.
We will discuss the all-important Southern Campaign and jump into the middle of the American War for Independence in 1781, picking up the story on the ground at the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. The next stop is Colonial Williamsburg, where we will study the incubator of liberty with its critical players. We conclude at the final Battle of Yorktown, where the surrender took place.
We will introduce you to some well-known men like George Washington and Patrick Henry but also some lesser known ones such as “Light Horse” Harry Lee (father of Robert E. Lee), Andrew Pickens, David Caldwell, Dan Morgan, William Lee Davidson, Alexander Craighead, and Thomas Nelson.
Throughout, we will explore the concept of Biblical manhood, organizational leadership, and maximizing the significant influence of a man. Future men will receive encouragement and instruction on their level.
Lead with Character provides the perfect blend of history, training, spiritual discipleship and fun for men and future men of all ages as they weave lessons of history, character and spiritual principles into a life-changing experience. Dads who want to make memories of a lifetime with their sons and who appreciate trusted voices that will reinforce vital life lessons essential to young men will find Lead with Character trips to be all that they hoped for and more.
Dr. Dan Burrell - Executive Pastor, Life Fellowship Church
We fathers look for ways to create memories and bonding experiences of significance with our sons. This three day journey is rich beyond words and measure. The leadership lessons learned through the masterful and fascinating storytelling focused on Civil War characters and battles are rich, lasting and fun! The strong and gifted leaders of this ministry are called to share the love of Christ and reveal the certain relevance of faith during days of old—and today.

Does Lead With Character profit from the trips?
We do not make money putting on the trips or clear any profit from ticket sales. In fact, donors subsidize each ticket to keep costs down.
We know the ticket prices are still significant. What you gain from the trip will be worth the cost many times over.
Are there scholarships available?
Tickets are already subsidized, but in special cases where cost is the only prohibiting factor, there may be scholarship funds available to reduce the cost a little bit more.
